Holistic Integrative Approach
What can you expect from therapy?
As your therapist I will encourage you to reflect on your own thoughts and feelings around your concerns, giving you a space to be heard and to do this without judgement and in confidence*. My focus will be on you and what is important to you. I believe that you are the expert on your own life and experiences and, therefore, I will not be bombarding you with advice, telling you what to do, but rather helping you to discover or explore your own perspectives on what is best for you at this moment in time. I will not pressure you to make changes but will aim to discover with you what changes are realistically achievable for you. We may work together for however long we both feel is necessary, which could be anything between 6 weeks to over a year. This can be agreed at the beginning but adjusted as required.
After an initial phone call, I offer a free pre-session in which we can discuss your expectations, how many sessions you may require (though this can be adjusted in due course), whether face to face or online therapy is best for you and any other questions you have. This gives both of us an opportunity to decide if we are happy to work together. I will call you a few days later and, If we do decide to go ahead I will send you a written contract for you to review and, if in agreement, we will both sign this before commencing therapy.
If we decide to have our meetings in person my therapy room has a warm and comfortable atmosphere.
* There are a very few areas that legally require therapists to breach confidentiality to other professionals and I will explain these to you when discussing our contract.
